The Lewiston-Porter community is host to the largest hazardous waste landfill in the Northeastern United States. More than 80% of the waste coming into CWM Chemical Waste Services in Porter comes from outside New York State. The DEC claims that CWM should remain an acceptable, geographically-equitable option for hazardous waste landfilling in New York, despite the availability of new and emerging high-tech remedial treatment options. NOW is the time for action! Area residents are strongly encouraged to attend all hearings. Say NO to another 50 years of toxic and hazardous waste in our community, our children's schools, our air, and the Great Lakes. How you can help: Come to RRG meetings!
